We had very nice weather the Saturday before Christmas here in Dallas. In part to take advantage of the weather, and in part to get out of the house (we seemed to always be in the kitchen...cooking, cooking, cooking...) and to enjoy having family visiting us in Dallas I instigated a trip downtown to the new, recently opened, public park named Klyde Warren Park.
Klyde Warren Park is a new downtown urban space that occupies a 5x2 square block space within walking distance of downtown. The park sits on top of a freeway - imagine that! - and contains multiple gathering spaces.
Amelia, in the black jacket below, and John, in the red sweatshirt below chasing after the soccer ball, enjoyed exploring the park. I have been reading about this new park for months and was eager to see what all the hype was about. Along the sides of the park were tables with chairs that patrons could use to play board games or read newspapers that you could check out from vendors within the park.
There were a half dozen food truck vendors lining the curb selling sandwiches and other foods. I took this from the top of the tree house, and you can see how the park extends over the freeway below.
Look at the snail to Amelia's left and the butterfly above her head!
Amelia and John particularly enjoyed this climbing structure in the children's garden.
And last but not least a photo of grandparents and kids by the large Christmas tree in the park.
I really enjoyed our outing to the park this afternoon. This park is such a great addition to the city of Dallas!
