The Great American Road Trip

Hi, Friends. Our family is off on a Great American Road Trip this August! We started off in Dallas and made our way to Washington D.C. over a two and a half day time span.

Day one: Dallas, TX to Bryant, AR (south of Little Rock) - 307 miles; 4.5 hours
Day two - Bryant, AR to Roanoke, VA (LONG day!) - 802 miles; 12.7 hours
Day three - Roanoke, VA to Washington D.C. - 250+ miles; 5+ hours (hard to tell specifically since we made an extended stop in Charlottesville, VA on our way into the city).

The longer story about this trip is that I had to attend a work-related event at a conference center in the D.C. area during the first part of the first week of August, so I decided to turn this into a family driving trip to enjoy the nation's capitol and also to enjoy one last summer vacation together. Scott drove out from Texas to D.C. with us and spent Monday with the kids in the city while I attended to work duties at the accounting conference. Unfortunately Scott had to leave Tuesday morning to return back to work, but then the rest of the week the kids and I were on our own. We are specifically excited to use this time available to visit friends and family in the southeast U.S. as we make our way back to Dallas. We are not a "road-tripping" type of family, so this will be quite the exciting adventure for us all.
