Field Day

Field Day was held on Friday at Amelia's elementary school. Field Day is a big deal in our community, where kids and parents are all super excited for the event. I would estimate that about 80% of the children have at least one parent present during the activities, so there is a lot of cheering and excitement for Field Day.

One of my favorite events was the pony riding/cow roping event. The theme of this year's Field Day was "Wild West", which seems appropriate for an elementary school in Texas. Below Amelia is on the first part of the activity, riding the pony down the course.
The second part of this activity was roping the cow head attached to the hay.

Another event was the partner's sack race, where Amelia participated with her BFF (best friend forever, for those of you not up on young girl lingo) Lydia. Amelia's class was assigned to wear the color orange for Field Day, and I credit Lydia's mom for providing these cute matching outfits for Amelia and Lydia. I love the way the girls' hair is flying in different directions in this photo!

Miss Kuhne's second grade class posing for a group photo after Field Day fesitivies had concluded. Amelia is on the top row farthest to the left.

Amelia posing with her popsicle after Field Day. I think she looks so pretty (and grown up!) in this photo.
