First tooth gone!

Guess who lost his first tooth today? John couldn't be more excited!

John has been wiggling the loose tooth for weeks, hoping it would come out. Poor kid spent all of church service this morning poking me every five minutes to show me that he was vigorously wiggling his tooth. And wouldn't you know it that when I picked Amelia and John up from choir rehearsal tonight the tooth was missing!

When I asked John how it fell out, he replied, "Well, mom, after I took a bite of my pizza I felt and the tooth was not there, so I knew it had fallen out!". So not only was the tooth missing, but John could not find it. We don't know whether John ingested the tooth or whether it fell out in some other capacity, but in any case the tooth was not available to leave under his pillow this evening.

So because John did not have the tooth to leave in the pillow, he left this note instead:

Amelia asked, "Mom, why are you taking a picture of John's note to the tooth fairy?" I wanted to answer, but of course did not, that it's just too darn precious not to document this moment.

(Just like the Mastercard commercial) Enjoying being the tooth fairy as a parent + seeing the excitement on your child's face = priceless.

And, yes, I already deposited the requisite $5 in John's tooth fairy pillow, and I retrieved John's note to the tooth fairy and hid it clearly away from the kids. Don't want to make the same mistake twice of nearly getting caught in the act.
