We were fortunate to spend six days in Jackson Hole, Wyoming recently. Though lovely, my photos of the Grand Tetons will never do the mountains justice. However, during the duration of my posts I will try my best to convince you that this section of Wyoming is one of the loveliest places on Earth. Below is a shot of the beautiful mountains.
We arrived in JH last Wednesday and were lovingly greeted with a visit by my mom and dad. We were staying in a condo located in town and my parents' campsite was located just outside of town, about a 15-minute drive away. The visit with mom and dad was a great start to our trip. They encouraged us to check out the JH tram up the mountain near Teton Village, which we did on Thursday. This (accidentally) turned out to be the perfect day as the sun was shining brightly and there were few clouds in the sky. Below is the case camp of Teton Village, where the tram picks up its passengers.
This is a shot of another tram approaching the camp at the top of the mountain. Though the tram traverses over four thousand feet in elevation, the ride is smooth and not scary at all.
Amelia and John are ready to board the tram! Note our sweatshirts - while the temperratures at base were mild (about 60 degrees), we were expecting cooler temperatures on the top of the mountain.

Below we had just arrived at the summit. Don't we look like we are on top of the world? I purchased disposable cameras for the children earlier that morning, and Amelia especially enjoyedd taking pictures during our visit on the mountain.
Snow in July! There was a little bit of snow left in patches around the top of the mountain. Amelia and John threw a few snowballs and had fun walking in the slushy mess.

Back at base camp, we rode a chair lift up another section of the mountain to enjoy a different view of the valley. This is one of the chair lifts used for more moderate slopes during ski season. Relative to the enclosed tram, it was fun to feel the breeze and enjoy the unobstructed view on the chair lift.
