Ballet recital

It's that time of year again - ballet recital! This is one of my favorite events of the year, though not on the top of Scott's list (however he did wait until after Amelia had danced to ask if we could leave the auditorium).

Below are some photos of our lovely lady in her ballet costume. I think Amelia looks gorgeous and she did a great job dancing.

Waiting backstage gets tedious for the girls. Before I went out front Amelia decided to pose for photos. I instigated this one, which I adore. Amelia was already looking in the mirror like this and all I had to ask her to do was stay still for the shot.

Amelie decided to go for a more dramatic pose.
And in the end we got the beautiful ballerina pose.
Earlier in the weekend I took the children to swim at SMU's pools. We took advantage of the cool splash pool before heading inside to do some more serious swimming in the lap pool. The children recently completed a short series of intensive swimming lessons and i can see a difference in their comfort level in the water, especially Amelia.

The kids loved swimming and I enjoyed a relatively cool way to spend the morning on a 100 degree day (the first of the season in Dallas this year). How many universities around the country have not only several olympic-sized swimming pools but a "tanning pool" as well? You can see that the splash pool above is really just a fancy place for tanning. The students drag their lounge chairs through the shallow water and regularly bake there from April through October. However, children are permitted in this pool on Saturdays until 1:00 p.m. This year I am trying to remember to take advantage of our time out there as the kids love to chase each other through the fountains and waterfalls.
