End of first grade

The end of the school year is upon us. This time of year is bittersweet for me personally. As much as we have had a great year - Amelia has totally blossomed in first grade this year! - what is hard is that we are saying good-bye to many friends we have made this year in first grade. Amelia's elementary school has six classes in each grade, so the statistics support the idea that not all kids from her first grade class will be together for second grade - bummer. We love all of our friends!

So today was the end-of-the-year party for Amelia's first grade class. When I arrived at the party the class was in midst of a three-legged race. The race was boys versus girls, where Amelia was paired with her best friend Lydia for the race. The girls did a great job - beating the boy-team they were paired against!
Below are a few shots of Amelia and Lydia. We love Lydia and I am grateful that Amelia got to share first grade with such a great girlfriend!
