Girl time

Scott and John traveled early to Miami last week and Amelia and I will join them on Wednesday for our Thanksgiving celebration with the Wilsons. While we certainly miss the boys, the upside is having so much one-on-one time with Amelia! I love it! It is great fun for me to spend time alone with Amelia, as we can engage in activities that are not as appealing to John. Or, as Amelia put it, we can get to do all the fun things that John would normally mess up.

We got a jump start on Christmas by baking a huge batch of sugar cookies on Saturday afternoon. Amelia is hosting her Y Princess group in December after we return from Miami so we baked dozens of cookies that will be ready for the cookie decorating part of the party.

Amelia did a great job rolling out the dough and carefully forming shapes with the cookie cutters. Compare and contrast the cooking photo above with the one below, which was taken when Amelia was almost three years old. She is actually wearing the same apron, but it fits her much better now. Cute!

One of the fun things we did on Sunday was go to the children's advent workshop at church. The fellowship hall was decorated as if it were Bethlehem with stations set up for crafts and other Christmas-themed activities for the children. Amelia decorated an advent candle in the "candle shop", created a Christmas ornament in the "painting studio" and dressed as an angel in the nativity area.
I love the shot below. Check out the big smile on Amelia's face! Yes, she was having a good time, but she was also playing like a ham posing with silly face for my camera.

Only one and a half more days until we are with the boys again. I will be very happy to see them, and I know that Amelia has missed her brother and dad. But I have great memories from my quiet and peaceful week with Amelia.
